Cookie Policy
This explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on lumenus.life and in the Service, and the choices you have. The short version: we use what the Service needs plus analytics you can control, and on our public marketing website we may use advertising-measurement tools. Non-essential cookies are off until you opt in. We do not place advertising trackers on the pages where you do private grief work or enter health information, and we do not use your grief or health data for advertising.
On this page
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small data files placed on your device when you visit a website or use an app. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, local storage, and software development kits (SDKs). Some are removed when you close your browser (session), and some persist (persistent). We describe both here.
2. What we use, and what we do not
We use what is necessary plus analytics and preference cookies you can control, and on our public marketing pages we may use advertising-measurement cookies. Non-essential cookies are off until you opt in. We do not place advertising or cross-site tracking on the pages where you do private grief work or provide health information.
| Type | Purpose | Can you turn it off? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Authentication, session management, security, load balancing | No, the Service cannot function without these |
| Preference | Remembering your settings and choices | Yes |
| Analytics | Understanding aggregate, de-identified usage so we can improve the Service | Yes, and these are off by default until you opt in |
Where we hold a firm line: we do not use advertising cookies, ad pixels (including social-media advertising pixels), cross-site or cross-context tracking, data brokers, or ad networks on the pages where you do private grief work or provide health information, and we do not use your grief or health data for advertising. On our public marketing website we may use analytics and advertising-measurement cookies, for example to understand how visitors find us and how our marketing performs. You can accept or decline these through our cookie banner, and we honor the Global Privacy Control.
3. Your choices
- Consent banner. On your first visit, you can accept or decline optional (preference and analytics) cookies. Analytics cookies are off by default. Our consent banner blocks analytics and preference cookies from loading until you affirmatively opt in, so nothing optional runs before your choice. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent because the Service cannot run without them.
- Your Privacy Choices. A control in the website footer lets you change your preferences at any time.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC). We honor GPC signals from your browser. When GPC is on, we treat it as an opt-out of any non-essential processing.
- Browser settings. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the Service.
If you clear cookies, switch browsers, or use a new device, your saved preferences may reset and you may need to choose again.
4. Cookie inventory
The table below is a template. It must be populated from a live scan of the site and app before publication, with every column completed. Empty beats wrong.
| Name | Provider | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| [auth/session cookie] | LumenUs / Supabase | Strictly necessary | Keep you signed in securely | Session / [duration] |
| [preference cookie] | LumenUs | Preference | Remember your settings | [duration] |
| [analytics cookie] | [analytics vendor, CONFIRM] | Analytics | De-identified usage measurement | [duration] |
5. Third-party embeds
We audit every third-party embed on our website and in the Service, including any scheduling widget, web fonts, and any embedded video or map, to confirm that it does not set advertising or cross-site tracking technologies. If any embed sets a cookie or similar technology, we disclose it in the inventory above or remove it. This audit is repeated before each publication of a material site change.
6. Do Not Track
Because there is no common industry standard for Do Not Track, we respond to the Global Privacy Control rather than Do Not Track. See Section 3.
7. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy. Material changes will be noted by updating the date above and, where appropriate, by notice on the website.
